Diploma Course On Journalism & Communication

Even though various state institutions, universities, private institutions and organizations conduct courses on Journalism, it is the responsibility of the Sri Lanka Press Council to conduct systematic seminars and workshops on Journalism and Communication study in accordance with Government policies. It is expected to popularize a better media culture within the island.

Accordingly, the studies of the third group of this course are being conducted and the applicants who have satisfied the following qualifications can apply.

Passing 3 subjects in the G.C.E.(A/L) Examination is necessary and passing the G.C.E.(O/L) and the experience of three years is sufficient for journalist.

Media Workshops


Workshop and seminars are conducted at district level for provincial journalists aimed at the development of their theoretical and practical knowledge. Accordingly, lectures are conducted on current issues.

School Workshops


Workshop and seminars are conducted for G.C.E. O/L and A/L students on Media and Communication studies. Workshop, seminars and discussions on communication will be conducted for students in out stations. You may request through your principal.

Other Workshops


In addition to this workshop and seminars on current issues will be conducted for professional Journalists. Private Institutions also can request from the Press Council to conduct workshop.
