COMPLAINTS AGAINST NEWSPAPERS
Inquire Into Complaints Against the Newspaper
Any person, organization, or institution may make a complaint against an injurious article published in any newspaper in Sri Lanka. All complaints received will be investigated by calling both parties concerned, and legal action may be taken in accordance with the Press Council Law.
If any article or feature published in a newspaper contains inaccurate or defamatory information, readers may submit a complaint to the Press Council.
Complaints should be sent by registered post or delivered by hand, together with a copy of the relevant newspaper article. The investigation process will be more effective if the complaint is submitted with an affidavit.
The Council received complaints in 2012, and appropriate actions were taken.
