A workshop titled “The Role of Journalists in Media Reporting on Children”, organized by the Sri Lanka Press Council, was held on 7 May 2026 at the Press Council auditorium.

Ms. Shanika Malalgoda, Director of Planning and Information of the National Child Protection Authority, served as the resource person for the workshop.

A large number of participants, including Dr. Niroshana Thambawita, Press Commissioner, officials of the Sri Lanka Press Council, and journalists, attended the programme.

The Sri Lanka Press Council organized a Kaleena Kathikawa (Current Affairs Dialogue) titled “Anti-Democratic Media Practices in a Democratic Space: Through the Eyes of a Marginalized Community” on 08^th  of July 2026, at the Council Auditorium.

The session was conducted by Mr. Sarawanan Komathi Nadarasa, a veteran journalist, researcher, and social activist, who served as the resource person.

The programme was attended by Mr. Priyan R. Wijebandara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Press Council; Dr. Niroshana Thambawita, Press Commissioner; officials of the Council; veteran journalist Mr. Kapila M. Gamage; and a number of journalists.
